Who's Running to Represent Novi?

A look at who is up for election in August.

If you're planning to run for office under a party affiliation this fall, you have until 4 p.m. today to turn in your paperwork. 

That's the deadline for partisans who may end up running in an August primary. Independents have until July 19 to declare their intention to run for office. 

Also on the ballot this August, the city is asking residents to to improve the quality of neighborhood and city roads.

Here's a list of candidates, and the districts they aim to represent, as of Tuesday afternoon:

Congressional

Novi falls in the 11th district, and candidates will be running for a two-year term in the U.S. House of Representatives. The candidates so far are Republican Kerry Bentivolio of Milford, and Democrats William F. Roberts of Redford and Sayed Taj of Canton.

State Legislature

Novi falls into the 38th district for the Michigan House of Representatives. The city is currently represented by Republican Hugh Crawford. He is running for reelection for a two-year term against Democrat Chuck Tindall.

Oakland County Commissioner

Novi falls into the 9th district and is currently represented by Republican Kathy Crawford. She is running for reelection against Democrat Gwen Markham for a two-year term.
