Community Generously Supports Novi Schools, Board Treasurer Says

January is School Board Recognition Month, a time to acknowledge those who serve the district.

In honor of School Board Recognition Month, Novi Patch is highlighting the seven people who volunteer their time — which is often consumed with hours-long meetings and endless documents — for public education.

We'll post profiles of Novi's school board members one day at a time until the end of January. We start this week with Ann Glubzinski.

Ann Glubzinski — Treasurer, Novi School Board

How long have you been on the school board?

9 years.  I am serving in my second term.

What is your role?
I am currently the Treasurer of the Board.

Why did you join the school board?
I ran for the Novi School Board because I believe that providing a quality public education to all children is very important.  I originally became involved in the Village Oaks Parent Teacher Organization when my children were in elementary school. As my children progressed through the school system increasing my involvement in the District seemed like a logical progression.

Could you tell us about your personal or professional background, relevant to this position?
I am currently a Visiting Professor of Business at Concordia University Ann Arbor.  I understand what skills students need to be successful after graduation in both the education and business arena.  I am committed to good stewardship of Novi District resources to make sure every student in prepared to meet their education and professional goals. I have a Bachelors degree and Masters of Business Administration degree, both from Michigan State University.

What about the Novi Community School District makes you proud?
What makes me proud of NCSD is the terrific team that is working together to serve the educational needs of residents of Novi.  That team includes: our great staff, administration, and the families living in Novi.

What are your goals for the district?
I think the District's Mission statement summarizes the ultimate goal of our District: "Developing Each Student's Potential with a World-Class Education."

Anything else you'd like to add?
It is an honor to serve on the School Board. Although there are financial constraints placed on public school funding in Michigan, our community has continued to generously support the NCSD.  I am very grateful to live in such a kind, giving community!
