Dennis and Jody Iovan, #76: 'There's Only One Game'

The Iovan family's son, Alex, is a senior offensive/defensive lineman on the Catholic Central varsity football team.

Detroit Catholic Central High School students and alumni love the school, and the football parents love and support their Shamrocks. While the team played on the field, Patch went into the stands to tell the stories of the parents who help make everything possible.

Senior season: Many Catholic Central players go on to play football in college, but not everyone does. Alex will not, leading to a strong sense that Saturday's game would be his last in uniform. "He said, 'Mom, there's only one game,'" Jody Iovan said. "I said, 'You just play your heart out.' I know he will, as will everyone else on the team."

How does football help a parent? "It teaches respect for what happens when you study hard and play hard. It teaches integrity and keeps him out of trouble," Jody said.
