Girls to Learn Lacrosse at Free Clinic in Novi

The free lacrosse clinic is for girls in fifth through eighth grades.

The City of Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department has partnered with Stacey’s School of LAX and Westside Women’s Lacrosse Club to present a free girls’ lacrosse clinic.

The clinic is for girls in fifth through eighth grades and will take place 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11 at Novi Meadows Elementary (fifth grade house), 25549 Taft Road. The clinic, led by Stacey Tardich, president of Stacey’s School of Lax, has a mission to increase participation in girl’s lacrosse in the Novi area. Tardich has been playing and developing girls’ lacrosse for more than 20 years.

“The clinic will cover basic drills and include interactive games with the focus being on introducing the sport,” Tardich said in a news release. “Parents will find the free clinic a convenient way to allow their daughter to try something new without any investment in equipment.”

Beth Donovan, president of Westside Women’s Lacrosse Club, is a Level 1 US Lacrosse Certified Coach, with four years of experience as the Club Development Chair of the Girls’ Lacrosse High School Board.

“We are thrilled to team up with Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services to help nurture a sport that is growing rapidly across the nation,” Donovan said in the release.

No equipment is necessary for the free clinic, but pre-registration is requested. Registration is going on now at cityofnovi.org. To learn about additional girls’ lacrosse offerings including a winter skill clinics and spring team play, visit cityofnovi.org or call 248-347-0400.
