Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Induction Returns to Novi

The HOF event will be held at Suburban Collection Showplace again this year.

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame will return to Novi this fall to induct its 55th class at .

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing will serve as honorary chairmen at the ceremony at 6 p.m. Sept. 15.

Class members are:

  • Carl Banks—Michigan State University All-American and NFL All-Pro linebacker from Flint Beecher High School
  • Jerome Bettis—Detroit Mackenzie High School, Notre Dame University and NFL All-Pro running back
  • Lloyd Carr—1997 national champion head football coach at the University of Michigan
  • Carole Hutchins—University of Michigan softball coach, led team to 2005 NCAA national championship
  • Dick LeBeau—Former Detroit Lions' All-Pro defensive back and NFL Hall of Famer
  • Greg Meyer—Top U.S. distance runner, most recent American to win the Boston Marathon
  • John Spring—Local fast-pitch softball legend and Amateur Softball Association Hall of Famer from Detroit
  • Ron Thompson—Former Detroit DePorres' High School head football coach, youth sports mentor

More than 100 current Hall of Famers have been invited to honor this induction class.

Tickets and further information for the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame's 55th Induction Event are available by calling 248-473-0656 or by visiting the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame's website. A limited number of VIP reception tickets are available for $225; general event tickets cost $125; and youth tickets for those 15 and younger cost $75.

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame is a nonprofit organization comprising 283 former champions, medalists and contributors to the world of sports.
