Novi Kicks Off Homecoming Football Game, Parade Friday

Football is just the start of the homecoming activities this week.

The Novi High School Wildcats varsity football team will take on Livonia's Stevenson High School this week for the season's homecoming game.

The game starts 7 p.m. Friday at Novi High School, 24062 Taft Road.

The Wildcats are going into the game with three wins and two losses. The team lost to South Lyon High School last week, losing 13 to 36.

"We're coming off a tough loss this past week," said Head Coach Jeff Burnside. "The kids are itching to get back to winning."

He said it's a young football team — 37 out of 55 players are underclassmen. The players are doing an excellent job, he said, and are improving. As far as players to watch in Friday's game, Burnside pointed out several.

Homecoming parade to step off from Taft Road

Before the Wildcats play host to the Spartans Friday, Novi will celebrate its team and school at the traditional homecoming parade.

The parade kicks off 5 p.m. Friday on Taft Road and ends at the high school. The band leads the parade, playing the fight song, followed by each class' homecoming floats. The football game follows at 7 p.m.

After snapping some pictures with a DSLR camera or smartphone, remember to share your homecoming photos on Novi Patch. That includes photos from Friday's activities and Saturday's homecoming dance. We would love to see them!
