Are You Going to the Detroit Fireworks Tonight? Your Deputies Are
Oakland County will send 96 sheriff's deputies and reserve deputies to help patrol the 54th annual Target fireworks Monday night in Detroit.
As the 54th annual Detroit fireworks light up the sky tonight, 96 deputies representing from Oakland County and another 40 deputies representing the Macomb County Sheriff's Officewill be helping Detroit officers patrol the streets below.
The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 10:06 p.m. Monday, June 25, over the waterway between Detroit and Windsor.
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel have both agreed to send additional law enforcement from their own counties to ensure the annual event is safe for all in attendance, according to a press release.

However, as a condition of this assistance, both county executives have said they fully expect the City of Detroit to reimburse their counties' taxpayers for the full cost of deploying law enforcement personnel.
Oakland County has agreed to send 52 deputies, 14 mounted deputies, and 30 reserve deputies, while Macomb County will send 20 deputies and 20 reserve deputies. Reserve deputies in both counties are unpaid volunteers.
