Novi Child Needs Your Vote to Win 'Best Lemonade Stand'

Luke's lemonade stand in Novi is up against nearly 50 other stands in metro Detroit.

Lemonade Day was officially held in Detroit on June 9, and now it's time to vote for the child with the best lemonade stand.

Voters can pick the best lemonade stand by "liking" the photo in the Lemonade Day Detroit Facebook album. Look for young Luke, who had a lemonade stand in in Novi.

Voting is open until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Lemonade Day began in Texas in 2007 and has since moved across the county, including to Detroit. The program aims to teach youth how to start, own and operate their own business.

In 2011, Lemonade Day Detroit distributed 8,000 backpacks of materials and the participating children donated about 70 percent of their profits to charities – an estimated $160,000.
