What are your thoughts on the new Michigan State Fair?
Michiganders took to Facebook, Twitter and Patch to share their thoughts on the Michigan State Fair being revamped in Novi this Labor Day weekend.
Blair Bowman, owner of in Novi, is working with the Great Lakes Agricultural Fair nonprofit group to bring back the Michigan State Fair this summer.
The plan is to have the fair, renamed the Great Lakes State Fair, at the 32,000 square-foot Showplace. Animals and Michigan products will be held indoors, while the circus and carnival rides will be in the parking lot.
The Michigan State Fair was shut down in 2009 after the government pulled its funding. The new fair will be a privately funded event.
