Saying his "number one priority" is constituent services, Congressman Kerry Bentivolio is taking his office on the road, including a stop in Novi. Bentivolio's 11th Congressional District mobile office will tour a number of communities March 19-22 to introduce constituents to the federal services that are available to them. “The 11th District Mobile Office provides our constituents with greater access to Federal services by bringing the office right into their community," Bentivolio said in a press release. High school students from Michigan’s 11th Congressional District are invited to submit artwork to the 2013 Congressional Art Competition. According to a press release from the office of Congressman Kerry Bentivolio (R-Milford), the winning piece will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol Building. Additionally, the winner will receive two round trip airline tickets to Washington, D.C. to view their artwork on display at the ribbon cutting ceremony in June. The deadline to submit an entry to Congressman Bentivolio’s district office, 800 Welch Rd., Commerce, is April 26. U.S. Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-Milford) has been appointed to House Committee on Small Business and will hold a small business round-table discussion on Jan. 28. Business representatives from Bentivolio's district, which includes Novi and Northville, are invited to attend. The round table will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Plymouth District Library, 223 S. Main Street. Bentivolio will be holding these round tables on a monthly basis at different locations around the district. Felony charge against Paul Seewald and Don Yowchuang dismissed by Wayne County Circuit Court judge.
A Wayne County Circuit Court judge on Jan. 18 dismissed a felony conspiracy charge against two former staffers for former U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, who resigned this past year amid a petition fraud scandal, the Detroit Free Press reported. According to the Free Press report, the staffers also were sentenced to probation for their previous pleas in the case. The charges include the following: Seewald must complete 100 hours of community service, the report indicated, while Yowchuang must complete 200. Both are barred from collecting petition signatures during their respective probation periods. On Tuesday, Republican Congressman Kerry Bentivolio co-sponsored his first bill, the Enumerated Powers Act (H.R. 109). Newly elected Rep. David Curson has been busy in Congress, according to a profile of him in Politico. Curson won the special election in November to fill the remainder of Thaddeus McCotter's term for Michigan's 11th District, which ends Jan. 2. The newest representative for Michigan's 11th District will be meeting with the public.
In honor of his official swearing-in on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman David Curson will host a district office open house in Livonia this Tuesday, Nov. 20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Livonia congressional office is located at 17197 Laurel Park Dr. N, Suite 216. David Curson beat out Kerry Bentivolio to serve the rest of Thaddeus McCotter's term.
Republican Kerry Bentivolio may have won the general election Tuesday to represent Michigan's 11th District in Congress, but he lost the special election to fill the remainder of Thaddeus McCotter's term. Democrat David Curson beat Bentivolio and will serve the rest of McCotter's term, which ends Dec. 31. Bentivolio will take over in January for a two-year term. The vote to fill a partial term was added to the ballot when McCotter resigned from the position in July after it was discovered that his campaign failed to turn in the requisite number of signatures to run for re-election this past Tuesday. His seat has been vacant for the past four months. Curson received 159,267 votes, or 51 percent of the vote, and Bentivolio received 151,740 …

"It goes without saying that I am disappointed in last night's results. However, I am not disappointed in the campaign that we have ran in the 11th. Even relatives are drawn into the mix of odd stories coming out of the district, which includes Novi.
In the final days before the Nov. 6 general election, the 11th District Congressional race has taken more twists and turns than a Six Flags roller coaster. The race started out in strange territory, when a review of re-election petitions for former 11th District Congressman Thaddeus McCotter showed he hadn't gathered enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. McCotter aides are facing trials in connection with the campaign scandal.
