After spending 30 years decorating cakes and pastries for friends, Debra Capaldi of New Hudson decided to open her own bakery. Perfect Desserts is a family owned business that offers cupcakes, special cake orders and other pastries. Capaldi and the bakery's patrons celebrated its official ribbon cutting Tuesday at the shop in Novi, 43448 West Oaks Drive. The Novi Chamber of Commerce, which organized the ribbon cutting, recognized the bakery's place in Novi with Capaldi, her husband, Michael Capaldi, store employees and community members. Capaldi, who attended pastry school at Oakland Community College, is the owner and chef of the family owned business. She said the bakery can personalize cakes for any occasion from birthday parties to weddings to bachelorette parties.
