Readers' Choice Winner: Diamond Jim Brady's

The bistro tallied the highest score in our Readers' Choice best place to spend St. Patrick's Day contest.

In our second installment of our Readers' Choice poll, voters cast their ballots for the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Novi. And the winner is: Diamond Jim Brady's.  At its new location in Novi Town Center, the bistro is a local favorite. Owner Mary Brady said their outdoor deck was open for the holiday and full of customers enjoying the nice weather. "It's a very nice honor, especially since it's our first St. Patrick's Day back," Brady said. The restaurant served authentic Irish food from March 15-18, including corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, Salmon a la Dublin Bay, and Parmesan Seared Sea Scallops Kinsale Style. Walmart Could Boost Novi Town Center

Neighboring businesses and city officials expect more shopper traffic with store's opening.

For years, the vast building in Novi Town Center that once housed a Mervyn's department store was more of an eyesore than a bustling business. That will change next year with the introduction of a 150,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter. Novi City Manager Clay Pearson said the megastore should breathe new life into a “difficult retail environment” by moving onto the site. “People are excited,” he said of development on the 12.8-acre parcel of land. Right now the closest two Walmarts are 12 minutes away. One is north  in Commerce and another southeast in Livonia. In Brief: City Budget Adjusted, Diamond Jim Brady's Location Transfer Approved

Here's a roundup of items from the Novi City Council meeting.

The city of Novi expects to end its fiscal year Thursday better than anticipated. The City Council amended its budget to reflect recent changes at its June 20 meeting, where members passed three other items and denied one. The next City Council's next meeting is at 7 p.m. July 11 in City Hall.
