High winds have left hundreds in the dark Saturday morning.
High winds blowing throughout Michigan on Friday night have left more than 900 customers without power in Novi, according to the DTE Energy outage map. The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Watch for Oakland County on Friday, which ended Saturday morning. Yet, gusts of up to 40 mph are still possible Saturday. Winds Friday night and into Saturday morning reached as high as 60 mph, according to the NWS. If you're without electricity, you can help restore your power faster by reporting it to DTE Energy. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for tonight.
Hold on to your hats! The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for Oakland County for Friday night into Saturday morning. According to the NWS, winds of 35-40 mph are possible, with gusts up to 60 mph. The strongest winds are expected between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The strong winds may also be accompanied by thunderstorms, likely on Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service's high-wind alert caused DTE Energy to issue it's own safety statement about possible power outages tonight or Monday. The weather service indicates winds will blow at about 30 miles an hour, with gusts up to 45 miles an hour. These winds will subside somewhat overnight but continue to be brisk on Monday. The weather service cautions residents that gusts can cause large tree limbs or weak trees to blow down, as well as snap power lines. Drivers may find controlling high-profile vehicles difficult during this time. DTE Energy's suggestions include unplugging major appliances and sensitive electronic equipment. Other advice:
