Novi Artists Display Abstract Exhibit at Civic Center

The display will remain in the Atrium until the end of February.

A collection of abstract art by two Novi artists is now on display in the Novi Civic Center Atrium through Feb. 26. Although Katharina Eltringham and Jan Brown did not know each other before the exhibit, they found that their pieces work well together. “Even though we have different backgrounds, our art is intermingled, and I think it works really nice,” Eltringham said. Eltringham is a retired registered nurse without any formal art training, but she has always drawn and painted as a hobby. Novi Hosts First Road Rally Event

Teams drove around Novi Friday to take photos of predetermined places or items to earn points. Here's a look at what the event was like from one of its participants.

—Submitted by Connie Gregory This past Friday night, the Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department hosted the first annual Road Rally. It was an awesome event. Emily Stevens from the Novi Parks and Rec. was in charge of the event. The 11 Teams met at the Novi Civic Center at 6 p.m. and sized each other up while they waited for their instructions for the Road Rally. My team, the Glitter Hat Girls, waited in anticipation of the start of the event. Promptly the event started on time and everyone headed out to get started. The groups were all headed in different directions. Our team made a beeline to the Novi Ice Arena and spent the next three hours gathering funny photos for the rally. This was so much fun; we vowed to do it …

Novi's Annual Community Open House Draws Big Crowds

Kids and parents alike learned about Novi's community services and participated in fun activities at the Civic Center Saturday.

Fall For Novi, the city's annual open house, took place on Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm at the Novi Civic Center. Local residents thronged the Civic Center and surrounding grounds to get a first hand look at community heroes like firefighters, police officers, EMT and paramedic units and other city workers. Kids were thrilled to handle a working fire hose or to climb up into a gigantic earth mover or sit in a fire truck, and a live burn demo conducted by the fire department was a not-to-be-missed event for many attendees. Inside the Civic Center were displays and information on the many departments and programs that enrich Novi residents' lives, such as the Novi Library, Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, civic groups, …
