Novi Middle School Student Brings Pellet Gun to School

School officials say students were not in danger.

Novi Middle School administration confiscated a plastic airsoft pellet gun Friday morning from a student who had brought it into the school, according to an email the school sent out Friday afternoon. "At no time was there any security or safety threat to the school or students but we recognize that the knowledge of the item on school grounds creates a cause for concern," the email said. Any students involved will be disciplined, according to the email.  Novi Middle School administration also said parents should take this opportunity to discuss the importance of not bringing such items to school.

Girl Scouts Help Novi Woods Go Green

Girl Scouts from a Novi Middle School troop delivered plants to each classroom in Novi Woods Elementary School on Wednesday.

A troop of Girl Scouts from Novi Middle School brought a bit of spring into Novi Woods Elementary by passing out plants to each classroom Wednesday afternoon. Each plant was also given a name. The scouts said the plants will help improve air quality in the school. "Even one little plant can help improve what they breathe in and out," said Girl Scout Anna Mikkelsen. The plants came just in time for Earth Day, and the girls said several of the teachers mentioned they are learning about the environment; kindergartners are learning what plants need to grow, second grade …
