Novi Highlighted by Michigan Presidential Primary

Two big political events held at Suburban Collection Showplace brought a lot of publicity to Novi.

The eyes of the nation turned to Novi on the evening of Feb. 28 as those following the GOP presidential race watched Gov. Mitt Romney celebrate winning the Michigan primary.  Romney held his victory rally at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, making it the first presidential primary event the showplace has hosted. Showplace owner Blair Bowman said that hosting the event was a great opportunity. “It really spotlighted Novi and Oakland County and Southeastern Michigan and even captured national interest there for a while,” he said. With just a few weeks to prepare, Bowman said it was a challenge to organize, but was happy that the event went smoothly.  “The organization of things from the media, all of the people coming in from all over …

He said his roots have helped him understand the foundations of the country and the importance of the industrial heartland of America. “One of the …

Santorum, Snyder Emphasize Importance of Michigan in 2012 Elections

The message was clear at the Oakland County Republicans dinner Thursday night: Michigan has an important role in the election.

More than 1,400 people turned out at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi Thursday night for what became the Oakland County Republicans' largest Lincoln Day Dinner in history. Attendees heard speeches from Gov. Rick Snyder, GOP candidate Rick Santorum and Ann Romney, wife of GOP candidate Mitt Romney. The event quickly sold out this week after Santorum won three recent state primaries, giving Michigan’s Feb. 28 primary more importance in helping the GOP pick a presidential candidate. Romney has also been a favorite in Michigan and was endorsed by Snyder Thursday afternoon.   All three headline speakers said that Oakland County and Michigan now play important roles in the primaries and the November elections.  “We’re a role model for …
