Three Novi Students Win Awards in Michigan Student Film Festival
'Best in Show' entries from Novi Middle School get April 28 public screenings at DIA.
Visual skills and effective storytelling by three Novi Middle School broadcasting students will be recognized at a prestigious setting this month. Two of their video documentaries earned Best of Show awards in the 44th Michigan Student Film and Video Festival. The entries will be shown April 28 on a full-size screen in the ornate, 1,200-seat Detroit Film Theater in the Detroit Institute of Arts. Jason Nunez won for Coffee Express. Celine Roest and Gina Salemi are honored for event coverage of a 2011 class trip to Washington, D.C. Judging and the five-hour festival are organized annually by a Royal Oak-based nonprofit called Digital Arts, Film and Television (DAFT).
