Novi Man Dead After Shooting Near Novi Road

Several neighbors reported hearing gunshots in Novi late Thursday night.

Police found Joe-Von Meshawn Cole, 22, dead in Novi late Thursday night.

Novi police responded to multiple 911 calls of gunshots on Sagebrush at the Saddle Creek apartment complex, at Nine Mile and Novi roads, police said.

Police said they found Cole, who is a resident of the complex, dead on the lawn near an apartment building.  An autopsy by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Cole died from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, according to a news release.

A 22-year-old man is dead after neighbors heard gunshots fired in Novi around 10:50 p.m. Thursday, according to Novi police.

Police responded to multiple 911 calls of gunshots fired on Sagebrush at the Saddle Creek apartment complex, at Novi and Nine Mile roads. That is where officers found the man's body near an apartment building, police said, where he was pronounced dead. 

Novi police investigators and forensic scientists from the Michigan State Police were still processing the scene around 3:30 a.m. Friday, according to a news release. They think the incident was not a random shooting, the release said. 

The man’s name will be released when an autopsy by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office is complete.
