Case Against Novi Judge to be Reassigned

The assigned judge recuses himself from the case against Novi Judge Brian W. MacKenzie.

An Oakland County judge was supposed to hear the allegations against Novi Judge Brian W. MacKenzie, of 52nd District Court, in a show-cause hearing Monday.

However, Judge Leo Bowman recused himself from the case because of his friendships with MacKenzie and the Oakland County prosecutor who filed the complaint, the Detroit Free Press reported.

MacKenzie, who was not at the hearing according to the Free Press, is under scrutiny based on several allegations including that he dismissed cases when prosecutors weren't present and falsified records.

The case will be reassigned to another judge through a blind draw, according to the Free Press.
