Novi Judge Defends Himself Against Oakland Prosecutor's Allegations

Novi Judge Brian W. MacKenzie says the complaint filed against him is full of errors.

Novi Judge Brian W. MacKenzie, of 52-1 District Court, responded this week to the allegations against him involving alleged improper dismissal and deferral of cases and falsified records.

He sent on Wednesday a 76-page brief written by an attorney to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, from which the complaint against him was filed, that says that the allegations contain inaccuracies, according to The Detroit News

The Oakland County prosecutor's accusations question MacKenzie, who has sat on the district bench since 1988, and his actions over the last decade

An Oakland County judge was supposed to hear the allegations against MacKenzie in a show-cause hearing Monday. However, the judge recused himself from the case because of his friendships with MacKenzie and the prosecutor who filed the complaint. The case will be reassigned to another judge.
