Carol Baaki Diglio, former principal of Novi High School, is now the district's assistant superintendent of Human Services

"The past 18 years at Novi High School have been amazing beyond words," she said in an email across the district. "I cherish the memories of the hundreds of students I had the privilege to work with as a teacher, coach, class sponsor, club sponsor, and most recently, 10 years as an administrator."

The Novi Community School District will be hiring a new principal for the upcoming school year.

The tentative timeline for the hiring process started when the position was posted in early June. The district's goal was to identify 10 to 15 candidates for prescreen interviews between then and the end of June, according to Diglio's email.

The rest of the hiring process timeline is:

July 1-3: prescreen interviews to identify three to five candidates to recommend for panel interviews

July 8: panel interviews to recommend two to three candidates to the superintendent

  • These will be conducted with a comprehensive committee of stakeholders like administrators, teachers, counselor, support staff, secretarial staff and parents.

July 10: Superintendent Steve Matthews will conduct one-on-one interviews with the finalists to identify the best candidate to serve as Novi High School’s principal.

Matthews will then make a final recommendation to the Board of Education, which will be approved as soon as possible, Diglio said.

"In the meantime, I will continue to lead the high school as the building principal, along with our administrative team, Robert Baker, Nicole Carter, Charles LaClear, and Brian Gordon," she said.
