Novi Schools Closed Wednesday for Wind Chill

This is the district's third consecutive snow day.

The Novi Community School District will be closed again Wednesday due to freezing temperatures.

All community education programs and co-curricular activities have been cancelled.

In Novi, Wednesday will be the third day classes have been canceled since students were scheduled to return from their winter break.

"A combination of low temperatures, subzero wind chills, and icy roads in subdivisions would potentially compromise the safety of students and staff," Superintendent Steve M. Matthews said in an email Tuesday evening.

Classes are expected to resume Thursday. Matthews cautioned parents that Thursday's commute may be slower than normal and to allow extra time for travel.

"The weather has thrown a wrench into the start of 2014. Hopefully, we will be able to have smooth sailing from now on," he said in the email.

Walled Lake Schools and Northville Public Schools, where Novi residents also attend, are closed Wednesday as well.
